About Book Giveaways and Dr Seuss

So, first thing's first:
-GIVEAWAYS!
Okay, so I'm not giving anything away. But I DO love free books and if I don't like any of them after I read them, I'll pass them on.
+ I'm doing this for FIVE entries in a giveaway. Hey, the prize is 5 books. If you're a book lover like me, you can't beat that. Basically, in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the owner of the blog Reading in Appalachia is giving away these five books by five hispanic authors about characters who are Hispanic. So yes, I want these! http://readinginappalachia.blogspot.com/2009/09/celebrating-hispanic-heritage-month_16.html
+ I've entered another as well! http://apatchworkofbooks.blogspot.com/ <-----Go check it out! Especially if you are a parent of little ones or teach at an elementary school! EDIT: I WON THIS ONE!!!!!
+ http://findyournextbookhere.blogspot.com/2009/09/bbaw-giveaway-4-economist-book-of.html <----- Yes, quite a list this time. This section all being given away by the same person.
+ http://thebookresort.blogspot.com/2009/09/win-6-pack-of-books.html <---------- And now a 6-pack I would LOVE to win!

Now second thing:
-SEUSSICAL!
I'm helping my mother out with SSC Middle School's musical this year. They are doing Seussical Jr and I'm in charge of choreography. I did it last year to when they did Bugsy Malone Jr and had a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to this one because the kids are all great kids and there's a LOT of talent. I'll add pictures of costumes and the like as the show develops. HOPEFULLY I'll eventually even have video to show you.

Legal Assassin

What can I say?
I've found a new love in my musical theater life.

It's called Repo!: The Genetic Opera. the film version was produced by the same people who directed the Saw movies. Paris Hilton stars in it (as well as Sarah Brightman and that girl from Spykids). Now, I've never been a fan of Paris, but damn can that girl sing and act! I've got a new-found respect for her.
Oh yeah, the lyrics you see rolling above? That is a solo sung by my favorite character of the show.

I Don't Know If We Have Been Changed For the Better...

But We Have Been Changed For Good!
Obama! Obama!
God! I love being part of history! I love saying I helped to vote the man in!
I have a good feeling about his whole presidency.

Aww man, I so want to be at the Youth Ball being held in DC right now! Yes, I'm watching the Inaugural stuff on CNN right now as Pres. Obama and First Lady Michelle are going from ball to ball. They are just so amazing to watch. Now I know how those my age during JFK and Jaclyn must have felt....

The Joys of the American Culture

I felt compelled to share this. Also because I got a major laugh out of this.
Gotta love sarcasm.

1. Being Gay Is Not Natural
And real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning, tattoos, piercings and silicon breasts...

2. Gay Marriage Will Encourage People To Be Gay
In the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3. Legalizing Gay Marriage Will Open The Door To All Kinds Of Crazy Behavior
People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract. Lamps are next.

4. Straight Marriage Has Been Around A Long Time And Hasn't Changed At All
Hence why women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5. Straight Marriage Will Be Less Meaningful If Gay Marriage Were Allowed
And we can't let the sanctity of Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage be destroyed.

6. Straight Marriages Are Valid Because They Produce Children
So therefore, gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our population isn't out of control, our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

7. Obviously Gay Parents Will Raise Gay Children
Since, of course, straight parents only raise straight children.

8. Gay Marriage Is Not Supported By Religion
In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9. Children Can Never Succeed Without A Male And A Female Role Model
Which is exactly why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10. Gay Marriage Will Change The Foundation Of Society; We Could Never Adapt To New Social Norms
Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

Repost This If You Think Love Makes A Marriage

This is my thought on whether government should define what is/isn't a marriage
Good day to you!
