So yes, I have seen time and again bloggers whom I look up to get freebies to test/try-out/taste/try-on, review, and keep. Well, I did some research and what I found out was that Business2Blogger.com was the source of most of their objects of review.

After finding this out, I went ahead and signed up. After all, signing up through them is free. I'm not one to past up offers like this when I see them. I've yet to be able to actually test/rate/review something. But it'll happen. I'm sure.

New News from Me

So, I KNOW it's been a while since I've posted here. Gotta love Facebook, right? But as of right now, THIS is the only blog I CAN post to as I've got no followers to it so I've CERTAINLY got know friends who'd read it.
Anyway, the older of my two little brothers are married. Yes, Charlie is now MARRIED! He has been as of July 17th actually. THAT isn't the BIF news though.
No.
The big news is.......I'M getting married!
That's right, you've heard me. The big day as of now is set for Sept. 17th 2011 Scary really....the thought that I'll be getting married...... I don't have the wedding dress on my computer currently, or I'd post a photo. At any rate, I'll place it when I gt it on my computer.

Yes, the guy's a nice guy. But I'm still not sure if he's truly meant to be with me for the rest of my life....
I mean....he is SO not like me right down to the fact that he's a dog perso and I perfer CATS!

Ah well....spose more as it develops.....

I'm helping my mother out with SSC Middle School's musical this year. They are doing Seussical Jr and I'm in charge of choreography. I did it last year to when they did Bugsy Malone Jr and had a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to this one because the kids are all great kids and there's a LOT of talent. I'll add pictures of costumes and the like as the show develops. HOPEFULLY I'll eventually even have video to show you.

It's the housemate again........

So, she comes home from work yesterday and she goes -straight- to her room as opposed to sitting and talking to me. All of a sudden I get an IM wit her asking me about the apartments I had been looking at -prior- to her coming down here.
Yes I simply told her, found it a -little- odd, and went on my way.
Then, I go to Facebook and only 5 minutes prior she had posted: "--------------- is enjoying some alone time with the first man in my life, Tucker. And looking for apartments."

Then, after confiding my fears to a mutual friend I come to find out that she had bothered tell -him- and allowed ME to get the news via Facebook!! She wasn't even going to SAY anything to me according to the friend!!

Two's Company but Three's a Crowd....

So, I'm here in my new house that I'm splitting a $400 a month rent on with a room mate. We've got to cats (hers from her home and one we both adopted about 3 weeks ago) and NOW she's got a boyfriend that won't leave!

Anyway, tonight she brought up the idea of him sharing the space with the two of us and splitting things like rent and groceries and having him around to do repairs. Yes, it's true I have been grumbling over and over in my mind about if the boyfriend is spending SO much time here that why ISN'T he helping us pay the rent but.....I just don't know if I feel comfortable in the thought that he'd be staying here too.....

Because honestly? That IS a little awkward......

She's given me time to think about it. Thing is, I don't know if I should bring it up with my folks (the landlords of the place) and see what they say therefore putting it on them. Or if I should just tell her that I'm uncomfortable with that.

What can I say?
I've found a new love in my musical theater life.

It's called Repo!: The Genetic Opera. the film version was produced by the same people who directed the Saw movies. Paris Hilton stars in it (as well as Sarah Brightman and that girl from Spykids). Now, I've never been a fan of Paris, but damn can that girl sing and act! I've got a new-found respect for her.
Oh yeah, the lyrics you see rolling above? That is a solo sung by my favorite character of the show.

Non-fiction 5 Challenge

I really want to participate in the Non-Fiction Five Challenge. I don't read a lot of non-fiction and thought this would be a good way to branch out and read a genre I don't normally read. It is being hosted by Trish at Trish's Reading Nook. I really like following her blog and am glad she is taking up the reins from Joy and going to be the host of this challenge.

Here are the rules:

1. Read 5 non-fiction books during the months of May - September, 2009 (please link your reviews on Mister Linky each month; Mister Linky can be found each month on Trish's blog)

2. Read at least one non-fiction book that is different from your other choices (i.e.: 4 memoirs and 1 self-help)

Doing This For A Givaway

I know this is an odd thing for me to be doing. However, it's one of the requirements to winning the book that's being given away and I'm not one to pass up on a FREE book. I figure I don't have very many readers of my blogs here (if any at all) so this won't be too much of a bother to them.

The book is called The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane and is by Katherine Howe. From the description, it appears to be something I'd like to read. At very least, something worth trying. Just in case there should be anyone reading my blog, I'll also put up a review of it. If I don't end up caring for it, again it was F-R-E-E so no money spent on my behalf. I'll simply pass it on.

And real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning, tattoos, piercings and silicon breasts...

2. Gay Marriage Will Encourage People To Be Gay
In the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3. Legalizing Gay Marriage Will Open The Door To All Kinds Of Crazy Behavior
People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract. Lamps are next.

4. Straight Marriage Has Been Around A Long Time And Hasn't Changed At All
Hence why women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5. Straight Marriage Will Be Less Meaningful If Gay Marriage Were Allowed
And we can't let the sanctity of Britney Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage be destroyed.

6. Straight Marriages Are Valid Because They Produce Children
So therefore, gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our population isn't out of control, our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

7. Obviously Gay Parents Will Raise Gay Children
Since, of course, straight parents only raise straight children.

8. Gay Marriage Is Not Supported By Religion
In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9. Children Can Never Succeed Without A Male And A Female Role Model
Which is exactly why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10. Gay Marriage Will Change The Foundation Of Society; We Could Never Adapt To New Social Norms
Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

RENThead's Night of RENT

EVERYONE was amazing. And I do mean everyone. Normally I expect one or two to be off, or just not quite my taste. It came as a surprise to me that absolutely everyone sang brilliantly. Of course it helped that Roger was the original S. African Idol winner (Heinz Winckler) and that Collins (Anwar Robinson) was one of the Top 10 in American Idol's 4th season. Normally, I'm against the idea of pop idols in live theater as it takes away opportunities from actors. However, I must say this was definitely an exception to my rule. They certainly did not pull any shortcuts with this cast!

Okay, now onto the cast:
I was hugely impressed with the first song (RENT). The mikes worked perfectly and I could hear every word. The music was loud and very good. The stage was filled up nicely. The Orpheum in Sioux City doesn't have the largest stage, but it was decent sized and didn't seem too crowded. This was also the first chance to hear the entire cast as a whole. Beautiful!

Mark - The night we saw the show, he was played by understudy Corey Joseph Mach. His performance only goes to prove that the entire cast was great. He held the humor as well as the loneliness Mark encompasses.
Angel - Adorable!. I was terribly jealous of the guy's legs... It's just not right!. His voice was also beautiful. Amazing that a man can sing that high! His death also made me all out cry.
Collins - Anwar Robinson was certainly different in appearance from any other photos I've seen of Tom Collins. However, the braided hair added a nice touch to the NYC bohemian teacher-turned-anarchist. When he sang "Santa Fe" and "I'll Cover You", the tenor was certainly a different touch though still beautiful. I cried at the reprise of "I'll Cover You" during the funeral scene of course.
Benny - John Watson reminded me very pleasantly of Tay Diggs. I normally don't care for the role of Benny. However, Watson made me want to watch even him.
Mimi - The Mimi I saw was also an understudy. When she first came out, I was a little concerned. She looked quite different from how I imagined her: much darker skin color (not hispanic at all), and hair cropped short and very wild. That was all until I heard her sing however. She sounded *incredible*! I quickly forgot about her physical appearance. ESPECIALLY when she and Heinz sang "Another Day/ No Day But Today" together. They definitely had chemistry together!
Joanne - I loved her too. Especially the purpley streaks in her hair. Onyie Nwachuckwu rocked the stage as the lesbian-no nonsense-lawyer too. She and Maureen (Christine Dwyer) had shown the same chemistry Winckler and 'Mimi' had. The couple were simple on fire during 2nd act's "Take Me Or Leave Me", their voices blending perfectly. Nwachuckwu's frustration/dispare with Maureen was was also well portrayed all throughout the show.
Maureen - Christine Dwyer had energy! This is good, as the first time you truly see Maureen is right before her performance/protest close to the end of the 1st act. Maureen is the female character I'd love to play and Dwyer reminded me as to why. I even mooed when she asked. Of course, what true RENThead doesn't?? My friend I was with that night claims I was the loudest.
Roger (Did you think I'd forget him?!) - Heinz Winckler!! What else can I say? Let's see....oh yes! He has a wonderfully lovely voice! Roger is my favorite character in the entire show and Heinz had done the role complete justice in my eyes! Being from South Africa, he had never even heard of RENT until the movie arrived there. This was a big plus as he could make Roger his own instead of worrying about having to fill such shoes as those of Adam Pascal's (the original cast 'Roger' and that role in the movie). The moment he came on stage, cheers rose up. I was one of them of course. And when he sang "One Song Glory" I actually swooned!

~STAGE DOOR~
Naturally we stopped at the stage door afterward to get actors' autographs and to snap some pictures. Oh. My. GOD! Heinz is even prettier up close! He also spoke in his gorgeous accent. It was all I could do to keep standing as he placed his arm around me for a picture. Shame he's married He was VERY polite and very appreciative of the entire audience that night. Of course, Sioux City is know for that. My friend and I was able to get most of the leads save for Maureen, Joanne, and Benny.
While my friend and I were leaving, some of the actors approached us and asked if I could give them a ride back to the Holiday Inn. It was FREEZING outside and apparently their shuttle had yet to arrive. Containing squeals, I drove Corey Joseph Mach (later finding out he was the 'Mark' that night) and Dustin Brayley (Steve, among others) to the hotel, which wasn't very far away. They were extremely polite and enjoyed listening to the Spanish version of RENT we had playing in the car. Upon arriving, my friend and I got their autographs and I got a picture with them before they went indoors. The one quote I remember from Corey is, "We'll probably get a Note tomorrow saying 'Please don't ask fans for rides after the show' or something." It still seems like a dream to me. However, I have pictures to prove it's real.
That was a night I will never forget!
Awesome job everyone! Thanks Corey and Dustin for making my evening!!!!!!

Anywhere But Here

Ever wondered what was out there? Beyond what you grew up knowing I mean.
Have you ever wished that you could just drop everything and just hit the open road without looking back? Sure, you might not know where you're going but that's half the fun. Let you heart lead and follow your dreams where ever they may lead.
I nearly followed mine today both ways: 4 miles outside Jefferson, SD and driving on county road 150 towards Correctionville, IA this afternoon. The only things that held me back were A) lack of money/no job, B) high gas prices, C) I hadn't packed for such a trip, and D) I have my family here. I couldn't simply up and leave. At least not without letting my dad know....

I do have a dream that's calling me though.
My mind is restless and my heart is weary!
Yes, I do have that particular guy I want to make mine!

God.....why do you make it so tempting, yet so difficult to do?

Of Engagements.....

Well, my brother (Charlie) is now officially engaged.
That's right, I'll be gaining a sister-in-law July 17th, 2010.

What do I think about it? I'm thrilled.
I mean, it was bound to happen and everyone that know them were only wondering about when it would happen. And I'll get to help plan the wedding.
However, I would like to be a part of the wedding party.
You see, last night we had a dinner to celebrate the engagement. Somehow, it was brought up that my littlest brother (Colin) was decided to be the Best Man. Fair enough. After all he -is- family and I was like 'that's cool'. Then my brothers went upstairs and twas just us girls (Mom, me, Colin's girlfriend, and the bride-to-be) and the bride-to-be brings up her dilemma....

She doesn't know who she will pick as bridesmaids beyond her sister (who is rightfully Maid-of-Honor). Now, granted a) she has a lot of girlfriends and b) the wedding isn't for another year and a half. However, one would think Charlie might have offered up my name....
Alright, I'll give him that. He may have after all. And no, not being picked as a bridesmaid won't make me hate her. Far from it. It's just....I have a right to be in my brother's wedding party.

Gah! Why do I always forget about this blog??

My summer has been going well so far.
I will be playing Mayor Matilda Hyde in a local production of "All Shook Up"!
For once in my life of theater, I've actually received a role I had my eyes set
on!
Rehearsals have been very productive and we are in our final days before the
show opens.

Might be stuff up on YouTube eventually....

In other news, the day -right- after I get done with "All Shook Up" I'm leaving on
a jet plane with a friend to Milwaukee, WI in order to visit and stay with another
friend for a week. I'm SO looking forward to that time spent. It'll be nice
to 'get away' from home for a bit.
